Those who are born into the American dream are the people whose families have been here, and are not first generation Americans. Their parents had helped them achieve the American dream. The thing about the American Dream is that its not something you achieve and cant progress at. There is always progression to be made. Say you have a job for example and your making a decent amount of money at it, each time you get a raise you are achieving the American dream.
There are those lucky batch of people who achieve fame which is part of the American dream purely on luck. Justin Beiber is a perfect example of this. No one knew who this kid was before his mother put his music on Youtube, and he became e-famous. Usher then took him in and now Justin Beiber is famous. To me that is just pure luck. The American dream like I said before can be achieved in a numerous of ways some are born into it and progress at it, and some have to work there way to it.
Pierre- Nice job discussing the ins and outs of the American Dream. And, you mentioned Justin Beiber to boot. I do not know anything about him, so I'm not sure if he has talent or what (I assume he has a good deal of talent), but he certainly represents a new breed of American Dreamer in that he did not choose the Dream- his mother thrust fame and celebrity on him. I'll bet for now he does not mind.
